My name is Otto and I'm a beautiful big black labrador retriever. My counterpart is named Maynard and he is a gorgeous lilac
crowned amazon. In plain english, a parrot. He is mostly green but has lilac on his crown, crimson on the front part
of his head and when he spreads his wings they are outlined in red and blue.
Mom hasn't updated my site for a long
time and I told her, "please get on with it". She started this site when I was only 4 months old and this coming May 17, I
will be 7. My how times flies by. Maynard is 23 now and not a grey feather in sight. Guess parrots don't
get grey feathers unless, of course, they are an African Grey and they are born grey. He doesn't fly as high as
he used to though. Maybe his eye site is getting a little old. As you know, if you followed my site, Mom
and I were going to school. She graduated and I didn't. Like all teenagers, I did goof up now and then and still have
a mind of my own. I am allowed on the couch - they just keep it covered. Maynard and I are still great friends,
although my mother and father get very nervous when Maynard is out of his cage and I zero in on him in a bird dog stance (if
you know what I mean). Maynard and I communicate to one another. When he chirps in a certain way, I run to the window and
bark. We may see a deer or a squirrel out there. Were quite a team, Maynard and me.
Spring is finally here. I had
a lot of fun this winter although we didn't have a lot of snow for me to play in. I enjoy catching snowballs and running like
a deer around the house. I like the out-of-doors very much but am glad that I'm not kept in an outside kennel. My parents
would never hear of such a thing. In fact, I like sleeping by the fireplace on a really cold winter evening, and if there's
the smell of popcorn in the air snitching few pieces from the bowl when my parents aren't looking. When I think
it is time for them to get up, I just jump on the bed (all 100 lbs of me) and lay flat out more or less pushing them right
out of bed. It always works. They also bought a car that I would be comfortabe riding in. The seats fold down
and I have lots of room and it even has a sunroof that I can stick my head out of. . They call it the "doggie buggy".
I wish every animal could have such a wonderful life as I do. My parents are kind, tolerant and tell me every day how
much they love me. What more can a doggy ask for!
We'll I am sorry to say that I lost my good friend Otto June 5, 2007. He just turned 8. Mom cried and cried
and we all miss him very much.. Mom couldn't put closure on this until now and she has tears in her eyes finishing this.
Everyone who met Otto loved him dearly and he will always be deeply missed.
Because Mom felt so bad they thought she should get another Lab which she did. This is an entire new story called
"Morrie"
